Someone is following health directives attentively!

Locals have found various ways to spread COVID-19 health and safety awareness, but one video of a young pianist belting out a song urging people to follow health directives may just be the new anthem of the season.

After finishing off his PlayStation game, we chatted to Benjamin Attard who confirmed his love for music: "I want to be a great singer and one day I'd like to go to Britain's Got Talent or to X factor Malta," he says. Inspired by the COVID-19 situation in Malta, Benjamin penned down the original lyrics in a couple of days - with some help from mum Antonella, to viral tune Dance Monkey.

The song roughly translates to English as follows:

All of a sudden came COVID-19
Till now, the number keeps rising
But we Maltese are prepped for it
It’s important we listen to Profs Charmaine
Quarantine, inside, inside, don’t come out
It’s important to wash your hands with soap
And stay as far away from each other as possible
So we Maltese will win over it together
Let’s all think of the doctors and nurses
Let’s all say a little prayer together
The Blessed Virgin of Ta’ Pinu will help
So the Maltese and Gozitan will win over it together
Quarantine, inside, inside, don’t come out
It’s important to wash your hands with soap
And stay as far away from each other as possible
So we Maltese will win over it together
All together

When she’s not having a quarter-life crisis, Caroline is either drawing in a café, frittering her salary on sushi or swearing at traffic in full-on Gozitan. There is also the occasional daytime drink somewhere in the equation. Or two. A creative must be allowed at least one vice.
