Power display in the skies! Italian Air Force HH-139 to make Malta International Airshow debut

The skies above Malta are set to thrill aviation enthusiasts once again, as the Malta International Airshow – taking place on the 27th and 28th September this year – confirms an exciting new addition to its 2025 lineup: the Italian Air Force’s Leonardo HH-139 helicopter display team.

Making their first-ever appearance at the event, the team – operated by Italy’s 15° Stormo (15th Wing) – will take to the skies via the the HH-139, in a dynamic aerial demonstration that highlights the helicopter’s remarkable power, precision, and agility.

A twin-engine, medium-sized aircraft, the Leonardo HH-139 is widely regarded for its versatility and high performance. Primarily used for Search and Rescue (SAR) and combat SAR missions, the HH-139 is equipped with state-of-the-art navigation, communication, and flight control systems, enabling it to operate in challenging conditions with maximum efficiency.

Spectators at this year’s Malta International Airshow can expect a power-packed display from the HH-139 demo team. The performance will give an up-close view of the helicopter’s hovering finesse, rapid manoeuvrability, and tactical rescue capabilities, making it one of the standout highlights of this year’s event.
