Your taste buds will definitely be tingling!

Jillian Mallia

Take it from this lactose-intolerant foodie, dining out tends to be hard when all you want to do is taste those incredible dishes on the menu, but risk and dash to the bathroom if you do. Here are eight restaurants in Malta that offer lactose-intolerant-friendly options to keep you and your tummy happy!

1. Ke Gusto

Being able to have an ice-cream without running to the loo is the dream. And Ke Gusto provides all the yummy goodness fit for our delicate tummies.

2. TukTuk

Being lactose-intolerant doesn’t mean you have to completely omit all the yummy dishes, especially Indian, which is a personal fav. TukTuk takes care of the lactose-intolerant community, changing up their sauces for us to enjoy.

3. Mezzaluna Bistro and Pizzeria

Mezzaluna Bistro & Pizzeria in St Paul’s Bay’s main street serves up some mean pizza, catering for us lactose-intolerant foodies. The cheese is just a fab and, as a bonus, they make gluten-free pizzas too, and not the cardboardy type. Win, win!

4. Sottozero

Ice-cream is life - we all know this. But for us lactose-suffering kids over here, it tends to get a little difficult to feel that joy without lactose-free options to choose from. Sottozero serves up the best ones with a variety to choose from.

5. Costa Coffee

Before I found out that Costa Coffee offers lactose-free milk I said goodbye to my hot chocolate with extra mini marshmallows (yes, I'm that white chick - sue me). But then, boom – game changer. I could have that delish hot chocolate again without being totally in pain after.
