Wow! Local art museum MUŻA loans historic artworks to prestigious exhibition in France
The exhibition, In the Time of Grand Master Jean-Paul de Lascaris, is currently on display in Nice, France
Malta’s national community art museum, MUŻA, is making international headlines with its latest cultural collaboration.
The museum has loaned a selection of prestigious artworks to the exhibition 'In the Time of Grand Master Jean-Paul de Lascaris', currently on display in Nice, France.
This significant exhibition sheds light on the influential Lascaris family and explores the maritime and hospital missions of the Order of Malta during the 16th to 18th centuries. It provides an in-depth look at the socio-political and religious dynamics of the period, with a strong emphasis on the Order’s impact across Europe and the Mediterranean.
Among the loaned works is the evocative painting 'View of the Façade of St John’s Conventual Church with the 8 September Procession', attributed to an anonymous artist. This piece captures a vivid religious procession in front of one of Valletta’s most iconic landmarks, offering a glimpse into Malta’s rich baroque traditions and cultural heritage.
The exhibition celebrates the legacy of Grand Master Lascaris while also highlighting Malta’s continued role in preserving and sharing its historical treasures on the international stage.
MUŻA will be revealing other significant artworks which make part of the loan, though details remain under wraps for now.
What an honour!
