What a beaut! Did you know about Mosta’s ‘Il-Mithna l-Gdida?’
Wow!

Jillian Mallia

Did you ever spot this windmill while driving through Mosta’s busy streets? Il-Mithna l-Gdida (translated: The New Windmill) can be found close to the San Silvestru chapel.

“This windmill in Triq il-Mithna, Mosta, dates back to the British period when it was built to function as a grain mill at the start of the 1800s,” says photography page Kappa Vision.

“It remained in use until 1979, after which its sails were removed. Today it has been converted into a house. It features a corner niche of St. Anthony of Padua.” It is also scheduled for Grade 1 historic protection.
