The wind will be picking up later today!

With strong winds expected this weekend, many beaches across Malta and Gozo are currently marked as unsafe for swimming due to stronger currents.

If you’re planning a Friday dip, make sure to check for weather updates, keep an eye out for red flags at the beaches and follow the guidance of lifeguards on duty.

Here are the beaches safe to swim at today:

Malta: Mellieħa, Mistra Bay, Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq, St George’s Bay, Rinella Bay, Marsaxlokk, Pretty Bay
Gozo: Wied il-Għasri, Qbajjar, Ħondoq ir-Rummien, Mġarr ix-Xini, Xlendi

These are the beaches currently not advisable for swimming:

Malta: Marfa, Ramla l-Bir, Little Armier, Armier Bay, Imġiebaħ, St Paul’s Bay, Qawra, Sliema, Marsaskala, St Thomas Bay, Ħofriet, Wied iż-Żurrieq, Għar Lapsi, Fomm ir-Riħ, Ġnejna Bay, Għajn Tuffieħa, Golden Bay, Anchor Bay, Paradise Bay

Gozo: Xwejni Bay, Marsalforn, Ramla l-Ħamra, San Blas Bay, Daħlet Qorrot, Dwejra, Dwejra Inland Sea

Safety first! Even if a bay is normally safe, currents can change quickly with the wind, so always swim responsibly.
