Check her OUT! Last May, a restoration project of €4.4 million kicked off which will give Admiralty House and former 17th century arts museum quite the facelift. The works are well underway, and we must say, she’s looking mighty fine!

A little bit about the palazzo

The palazzo currently being restored dates back to the 17th century, having two floors and basement level as well as an impressive staircase. Admiralty House was actually one of the first palazzos to be built in Valletta and served as a residence for many knights while on the island.

It got its name, Admiralty House after becoming the seat of the Commander-in-Chief of the British Mediterranean Fleet up until 1961. It was inaugurated as the National Museum of Fine Arts 13 years later.

The works

Works include the restoration of both facades of Admiralty House, ceiling paintings, original apertures and historical elements around the palazzo. The premises will be turned into offices for the Attorney General and the State Attorney and during the process, mechanical and electrical services were installed.

We can’t wait to see the final results!
