Checkmate in the park! Community chess table accessible to all at Salina Park
This proposal was suggested by a community member and taken on board by Ambjent Malta

Salina Park is set to become a little more strategic, and a lot more social, thanks to a thoughtful initiative proposed by a local resident and passionate chess enthusiast. With a deep love for board games and a desire to share that passion with others, the resident suggested installing a permanent outdoor chess table in the park, a proposal that has now been embraced by Ambjent Malta.

The aim is to create a welcoming and inclusive space where people of all ages can gather, play, and connect. Surrounded by Salina Park’s natural beauty and shaded walkways, the table will offer a chance for both casual players and serious thinkers to enjoy a quiet game in the fresh air.

Ambjent Malta praised the initiative, noting that outdoor amenities like this help promote community wellbeing, engagement, and shared experiences. In a time when digital distractions are everywhere, the chess table will serve as a simple yet powerful way to encourage face-to-face interaction.

Whether you're a seasoned chess player or just curious to learn, the new table will be accessible to all.

This small but meaningful addition is set to make Salina Park not just a place to relax, but also a space to connect, compete, and enjoy the timeless charm of chess.
