Malta International Airport (MIA) has recorded another bustling month, welcoming a total of 923,374 passengers in June. The busiest day of the month was Thursday 26th June, when 35,571 passengers travelled on 218 flights to and from Malta, highlighting the island’s continued popularity as a summer destination.

As expected, the United Kingdom remained Malta’s top travel market, contributing to 22.4% of all passenger movements. Italy followed at 20.2%, trailed by Germany (7.4%), Poland (7.0%), and France (6.7%).

With the summer travel season in full swing, MIA is urging passengers to plan their journeys ahead to ensure a smooth experience through the terminal.

To help travellers prepare, MIA has released traffic pattern guidance, identifying periods of very high terminal occupancy:

  • 6 AM – 12 PM on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday
  • 12 PM – 6 PM on Thursday and Friday
  • 6 PM – 12 AM on Thursdays

Passengers flying during these times are encouraged not to arrive at the airport too early to avoid crowding, check in online where possible, and follow terminal signage to avoid delays.

In support of this, the airport has launched a set of travel tips available on the Malta International Airport website, alongside new terminal signage designed to help guide passengers along their journey.
