As the much-anticipated Isle of MTV returns to Malta next week, GuideMeMalta caught up with two of the festival's biggest headliners: Damiano David, solo artist and former frontman of the Italian rock phenomenon Måneskin, and UK singer-songwriter Ella Henderson, who will both be taking the iconic Floriana Granaries stage by storm.

Damiano David: 'It really is a dream come true'

Known for his powerhouse vocals and slick stage presence, Damiano David is no stranger to global stages. Yet performing on a Mediterranean island like Malta holds a special place in his heart.

‘I’m so grateful that I get to do this amazing job,’ he said. ‘When I think back to being a teenager, it was always my dream to be playing music around the world, so to be playing in Malta this summer, then on to my world tour later this year, it really is a dream come true.’

Beyond the music, Damiano’s looking forward to soaking up the island’s culture and cuisine.

‘Oh, I’m ready to dive headfirst into whatever Malta’s got on the menu!’ he enthused. ‘Fresh seafood, local pastries – I’m pretty open to whatever’s on offer! I love exploring so I’m hoping to get to explore some of Malta!’

Ella Henderson: 'I have some brand new music in my set!'

British chart-topper Ella Henderson is no stranger to Malta, having previously performed here alongside Take That. Her memories of the island are as vibrant as her voice.

‘It was an unforgettable show & I remember the crowd being so warm & welcoming’ she shared. ‘I was able to take some time to visit the old town & parts of Mdina with my fiancé Jack, we absolutely loved it & have many fun memories of us roaming around the old town in the beautiful weather!’

This year, Ella returns with something fresh up her sleeve.

‘I have some brand new music during my set this time in Malta!’ she revealed. ‘I can’t wait to perform it for the first time over there & hopefully the people like it!’
