Team Malta is making a splash at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, with several historic and record-setting performances in artistic swimming.

Zea Montfort kicked off Malta’s campaign with a powerful showing in the Women’s Solo Technical event, earning 206.2883 points. This marked a five-point jump from her previous performance at the European Junior Championships, and a remarkable 30-point improvement since the start of her senior season — a journey that began with a score of 176.9416.

In the Women’s Duet Technical event, Ana Culic and Thea Grima Buttigieg made history as the first Maltese senior duet to compete at this level. Their routine earned 214.5317 points; the highest duet technical score ever recorded for Malta. The pair improved by 15 points since the season began and climbed five places from last year’s Worlds, finishing in a respectable 30th place.

Zea also took part in the Women’s Solo Free event, where she delivered a clean, basemark-free routine and achieved a personal best of 180.4982 points, finishing 20th overall. This marks an astonishing 40-point improvement since her earlier performance in Paris.

Zea’s 2025 season has been groundbreaking, featuring her senior debut, two World Cup appearances, double silver at the GSSE, and now her first World Championships — a proud moment for both her and Maltese aquatic sport.

Well done!
