Tourism Minister announces Malta to operate flights to 19 countries once airport re-opens on 1st July

Tourism Minister Julia Farrugia Portelli said yesterday that flights are expected to resume to 19 countries once Malta International Airport reopens in July.
The revelations were made during TVM programme Insights, soon after Prime Minister Robert Abela announced the news of the airport reopening, but no information was shared about which countries flights will be available to.
However, the Minister shared that several precautions will be taken at MIA, at both the Arrivals and Departures halls, including social distancing measures, and virtual check-ins.
Passengers will also be screened for their temperature before flying and upon arriving in Malta, and wearing a mask on a plane will be obligatory.
The minister noted that Gozo has already received a high number of bookings for farmhouses this summer, adding that “Everyone’s taste for travel hasn’t necessarily died.”
