Over 7,000 Maltese families (& counting!) fed thanks to the brilliant team at Victory Kitchen
Malta’s Victory Kitchen is kicking hunger in the butt, reaching new heights on a daily basis. Since having been set up during COVID lockdown back in March, Victory Kitchen has officially fed 7,001 families by providing 20,342 meals to those who need it most.
Headed by Briju’s Rafel Sammut, Victory Kitchen distributed 65 meals to 18 families in its first four days of operations. That number then bumped up to 30 people a day and was going strong three months down the line. By mid-May, Victory Kitchen had already provided 12,000 meals.
Victory Kitchen then organised a fundraising charity swim in order to raise funds to help it become a permanent concept. The team at the kitchen managed to collect over €35,000 from generous locals. “I would like to thank everyone who supported us to date. Since March 2020 we have helped feed 19,757 people and 6,952 families. But there is much more to be done. Thanks to our supporters and the public, we can now continue doing this work," Rafel said at the time.
Sharing the Victory Kitchen's most recent post, here is what Rafel had to say about the journey so far and the kitchen's future. "Since March we have not at any point stopped our services. There are many people in need, let's all do our bit to help them. 20K+ meals and counting. We are now looking for a kitchen through which we can grow our operation, please help us get the word around."
