Back on stage! Malta's Destiny to make a grand return to Eurovision 2025 as special guest
Get ready for a Eurovision 2025 treat, Malta – our very own Destiny Chukunyere is set to perform as a guest artist at the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, Switzerland, this May!
In a video shared by SRG SSR earlier today, Switzerland’s national public broadcaster, Destiny revealed the exciting news, leaving Eurovision fans buzzing with anticipation. Known for her powerhouse vocals and charisma, Destiny is sure to drive the crowds wild when she steps back onto the Eurovision stage after her journey with Malta in 2020 and 2021.
Destiny was selected to represent Malta in 2020 with her song ‘All of My Love’, but as we all know, that year marked the only cancellation in Eurovision history due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But she didn’t let that stop her shine! Destiny returned in 2021 with her unforgettable anthem ‘Je me casse’, and she took the stage by storm, securing seventh place in the final.
And now, she’s making a comeback! The Eurovision Song Contest is giving artists who were robbed of their moment in 2020 the chance to return and perform once again. Aside from Destiny, the Lithuanian group The Roop has also been announced as guest artists – and we’re guessing there are probably more to come!
In the video, Destiny begins with a playful tease, saying, ‘I have a secret’ – with a cute reference to the lyrics of Malta’s representative song this year, ‘Serving’, sung by Miriana Conte – before revealing the exciting news: she’ll be ‘crashing the Eurovision stage’ in 2025. With an excited grin, she ended the video with, ‘I’ll see you in Basel!’, and we can’t wait to see her back where she belongs!
The Eurovision semifinals will be taking place on Tuesday 13th and Thursday 15th May, with the final happening on Saturday 17th.
Excited for this year’s Eurovision?
