Double celebration! Maltese runners join 56,640 finishers in a Guinness World Record at the London Marathon
Running straight into the record books!

A group of Maltese runners have just earned themselves a place in the Guinness World Records – and it’s all thanks to this year’s London Marathon, which saw an incredible 56,640 people cross the finish line, setting the record for the largest number of marathon finishers ever.

Among the proud participants was beloved Maltese TV personality Keith Demicoli, who shared the news with a sprinkle of humour and pride on his Instagram story. He wrote ‘Guinness World Record Holder! Not for the fastest time... but for finishing with the largest crowd of sweaty legends in marathon history.’

Keith was joined by several fellow Maltese runners, including Francesca Falzon, whose feat was particularly inspiring. Francesca lives with cystic fibrosis, a genetic condition that affects the lungs and digestive system, yet she powered through the iconic 42-kilometre route and crossed the finish line in London, proving that determination knows no limits.

While the race itself was full of personal stories, challenging moments and unforgettable views of the UK capital, this year’s edition will go down in history not just for the runners’ endurance, but also for the sheer scale of participation that broke a global record.

Congratulations to all the runners!
