Over the past few weeks, several eateries have delivered food to health care workers on the Corona frontline as a token of their gratitude and now two local eateries are going above and beyond their duty to ensure hungry families do not go to bed with an empty stomach.
Local eateries The Pulled Meat Company and Briju proudly announced that they will be: "launching a 'VICTORY KITCHEN' concept - 'A family a day' is our aim - we will be committing ourselves to feeding AT LEAST 1 hungry family per day. (hopefully growing on this in the weeks to come)," one of the owners, Rafel Sammut, wrote in a public Facebook post.
Rafel also asked the public for assistance to bring this project to light: "Please forward any contact you may have of a family that is struggling to make ends meet, or ask them to contact me directly via facebook. Having said so, if there are any companies who can afford and would like to sponsor meals for families also GET IN TOUCH!" he continued in the same Facebook post.

Reflecting on the current situation in Malta, Rafel admits that a report on families struggling to put food on the table is what inspired him to take such an action: "If we all do our bit, we can help cushion the impact Covid-19 will have on many grandparents, mothers, fathers and children. In such difficult times, the very least ANYONE deserves is a warm, hearty meal a day."
Well done for this concept!
