Look ma, I made it! Play of Maltese Theatre Director earns critical acclaim on The Guardian
It’s a well-known fact that Malta’s home to some top-tier artists – but it’s not every day that these get recognised on one of the UK’s biggest news outlets…
Well, it seems like Theatre Director Vikesh Godhwani’s set on breaking the mould, as his latest play ‘The Nobodies’ just earned a whopping four stars on The Guardian.
“Ok so I’ve just received the greatest early birthday gift,” Vikesh wrote on social media.
“Not only did The Guardian come to review The Nobodies, but we got a bloody four stars! Completely and utterly stunned,” he exclaimed.
‘The Nobodies’, a Chalk Line Theatre production written by Amy Guyler and directed by Vikesh Godhwani and Sam Edmunds, follows three characters – Rhea, Aaron, and Curtis (played by David England, Lucy Simpson, and Joseph Reed) – as they unintentionally inspire a cohort of vigilante events amidst the closure of a local hospital.
The Guardian Writer Miriam Gillinson praised Vikesh and his team for “skilfully conjur[ing] up vivid scenes with just a few quick strokes”, all whilst fawning over the play’s “bold, engaging, energ[ised], and commit[ted]” storytelling.
And this isn’t even the first time the play’s made headlines!
Earlier today, thereviewshub.com awarded ‘The Nobodies’ a whopping four-and-a-half stars, adding to its never-ending portfolio of critical acclaim.
Want to see what all the fuss is about?
Well, you’re in luck, because ‘The Nobodies’ will be coming to Malta for a short run at the Spazju Kreattiv Theatre next month.
