Malta’s tourism sector continues to show strong momentum, with March 2025 bringing a notable rise in visitor numbers compared to the same month last year.

Thousands of travellers, 289,030 to be exact, chose the Maltese Islands for a spring getaway, with the vast majority visiting for leisure, while a smaller share arrived for business purposes. This proves to be an increase of 19.7 per cent when compared to the corresponding month in 2024.

The most popular age group among visitors ranged between 25 and 44 years, followed closely by those aged 45 to 64. Tourists from the United Kingdom, Italy, and Poland made up a significant portion of overall arrivals, reflecting Malta’s ongoing appeal in these markets.

The island’s accommodation sector remained busy throughout the month, with nearly all guest nights spent in rented establishments, showing Malta’s reputation for comfortable and varied lodging options. Many travellers opted for longer stays, contributing to a steady increase in the average duration of visits.

Gozo and Comino remained popular extensions to the Malta experience, attracting a substantial share of tourists through both day trips and overnight stays.

This strong start to the year suggests a healthy outlook for Malta’s tourism industry as it heads into the peak summer season.

With its blend of history, hospitality, and natural beauty, Malta remains a destination of choice for travellers seeking both relaxation and cultural exploration.
