“One year ago today an ‘idea’ we had been dreaming of, discussing and planning for, for a whole year became a reality - We officially launched Jays of Sunshine Foundation,” they began. Jays of Sunshine was set up after both Maxine and Angie lost their mothers, Jackie and Josette, and few years back.

“What an incredible journey this year has been. We have grown so much in such a short time. We have met beautiful children and the bravest of parents and siblings. We have cried tears of happiness and tears of sadness. We have learnt so much through our foundation, life lessons we will be eternally grateful for.”

The girls go on to give a heartfelt thanks to all those who have supported them this year. “None of this would have been possible without all the help we have received. Family, friends and strangers have donated money, support and time to help better our foundation. A thank you doesn’t quite cut it!”

Maxine also took to her personal Instagram account, thanking her partner in crime Angie for the past year. “Thank you, Angie, for being the backbone of the foundation from day one. From coming up with our name - after our lovely mummies, to being the best organiser, present hunter, event planner and accountant! Not to mention my best friend.” She also thanked her sister Stevie for her endless support and legal advice.
