Double celebration! Żejtun breaks new ground fireworks record during the Santa Katarina Feast
Żejtun just made fireworks history again!

Francesca Vella

The Santa Katarina feast in Żejtun has once again lit up the skies – and the record books!

Yesterday, The Malta Records team was invited to Żejtun to witness a dazzling display of pyrotechnic skill during the town’s annual celebration of its patron saint, Santa Katarina. What they saw was nothing short of spectacular – a brand-new Maltese record set for a full ground fireworks display made entirely of gas-based mechanisms.

The impressive show featured a complex setup where each firework changed colours at least three times, beginning with a static colour and ending in a vibrant strobe effect. A total of 11 traditional ‘raddiena’ (windmill) ground fireworks were fired throughout the festa week, adding to the visual feast that characterises Żejtun’s summer celebrations.

This new record was proudly set by the Santa Katarina VM Pyrotechnic Commission, operating within the Banda Żejtun Għaqda Santa Katarina V.M. AD 1933. The achievement comes on the heels of another major win earlier this year: the town's triumphant performance at the Ground Fireworks Festival held at the Fosos in Floriana.

Congratulations to all involved!
