It's great Christmas-time news for Jake Vella and his family! The beloved local triathlete is out of the ITU after being rushed to hospital 25 days ago when he encountered respiratory problems due to his rare condition ROHHAD NET(short for Rapid-onset Obesity with Hypothalamic Dysfunction, Hypoventilation, and Autonomic Dysregulation).

The news of his admission to hospital prompted countless heartfelt messages to his family on social media, uniting the local public in prayer for the youngster's speedy recovery. The news even reached Maltese Parliamentary Member Miriam Dalli, who took to Facebook to post about Jake being an inspiration to everyone. “Recently someone asked me who I consider to be the Maltese personality for 2018. For me it is definitely Jake Vella. Soldier on little man.”
