A whopping 1.6 million visitors explored Heritage Malta sites last year
It’s a record number for the organisation!

An incredible 1.6 million tourists visited Heritage Malta historic sites during 2018, with an increase of over 400,000 when compared to numbers in 2017.

In 2018, Heritage Malta organised, participated or hosted over 260 cultural and historic events including lectures, heritage trails, seminars, temporary exhibitions and re-enactments, among others.

The fantastic news was announced during a cultural visit to Hagar Qim for Polish students currently on our islands, as part of an Erasmus project by the Helen Keller Resource Centre. Last year, a total of 187,083 tourists visited Hagar Qim alone.

This year, nine Heritage Malta attractions, including Hagar Qim, Mnajdra, the Hal Saflieni Hypogeum, and Fort St Elmo, have been awarded with the Quality Assured Seal for Visitor Attractions by the Malta Tourism Authority. The seal is a recognised brand associated with the ability to consistently deliver a quality product.
