7 cheap seaside diners you can go to in your flip flops

Do you like the prospect of an al fresco meal without having to get all dolled up or breaking the bank? Informal and affordable, with great food and fantastic views, these flip-flop friendly (and pocket-friendly) seaside diners will make you want to eat out every day.

From English breakfast and traditional Maltese ftira to Spanish paella or a sumptuous grill, these diners offer a variety of meal options between them, from the simplest yet satisfying food to the most mouth-watering preparations imaginable. Well, the pictures say it all.

1. The Beach at Paradise Bay (Paradise Bay Lido), Mellieha

Not exactly cheap, but the meals here are a unique experience. Plus, the bay deserves its name. Check out The Beach at Paradise Bay.

2. Munchies Restaurant, Mellieha

Good value for money and top service in a fantastic location. You could spend all day here. Check out Munchies Restaurant at Mellieha Bay.

3. Chef's Eyes (Bugibba Bocci Club), St Paul’s Bay

Recently changed hands but still good food, good value for money and a traditional place in a great location. Check out Chef's Eyes.

4. Las Palmas, Bahar ic-Caghaq

So the food is good but the service is hit and miss. The location is wonderful for relaxation though, so if you have ample time, it works! Pet-friendly. Check out Las Palmas.

5. Fresco’s Cafe & Restaurant, Sliema

No doubts about the service here, or the food. Prices are good, especially considering the location on the promenade in the heart of Sliema. Still, it is informal and you can also just pop in for a coffee. Check out Fresco's.

6. Ta’ Xbiex Water Polo Club, Ta’ Xbiex

Satisfied customers here, despite it being a little more pricey. The impressive open-air views of Valletta certainly add value. Check out the Ta' Xbiex Water Polo Club

7. The Gun Post, Valletta

This private war apparel museum serves simple meals at unbelievably affordable prices, especially for being in the city. Family friendly and homely atmosphere. Check out the Gun Post.

There... you have one for every day of the week. Lunch or dinner?
