Wild seas at work! Storm Harry leaves its mark on Għar Lapsi
Storm Harry reshaped one of Malta’s favourite swimming spots overnight.

This morning, Għar Lapsi woke looking very different to the way it did a couple of days ago, with chunks of the popular swimming area and its surroundings hacked away at by the immensely powerful waves that hit the island yesterday.

In a post shared earlier today, the Siġġiewi Local Council expressed its concern over the destruction left behind, while reassuring the public that a full assessment of the damage will be carried out once sea conditions improve. Restoration works will then follow, with the aim of making the area safe and accessible again as soon as possible.

The council has also issued an important reminder: while the worst of the winds may be over, the sea remains extremely rough, and the rocks around Għar Lapsi have been weakened by the storm. For safety reasons, the public is being urged to avoid the cave area and the BBQ area until further notice.

When was the last time you visited the swimming spot?
