Testament to her astounding talent, Maltese footballer Maya Lucia has joined the Italian Genoa Femminile football team.

The club recently managed to bump itself up to Serie B, from Serie C, meaning it is now up against teams of the likes of Napoli, Lazio, Verona, and Brescia.

Prior to joining Genoa, Maya played as a midfielder for Lija Raiders. She is also a part of Malta’s women’s national team, which is currently fighting for a place at the World Cup.

 Maya was recently named ‘Women’s Best Young Player’ by the Malta Football Players’ Association.

The news of Maya’s signing was revealed by the Times of Malta, who also announced that 17-year-old Maltese footballer Maya Cachia is set to join Serie C football team Venezia Calcio Femminile.
