Malta’s under 16 national water polo team have done the country proud after managing to secure the top spot in their group at the World U-16 Championships.

Not only did the extremely talented team manage to beat the United States, but also the Kazakhstan national team during a glorious final.

During the Kazakhstan game the team managed to score an impressive 13 goals as opposed to Kazakhstan’s three. The goals were scored by Jayden Cutajar, Elijah Schembri, Luigi Dimech, Jayden Cassar, Zak Cutajjar Licari, Sam Engerer and Cain Cutajar.

“We are all proud of you. You are surly ambassadors to our country. Keep making our little island shine bright”, one of the boys’ fathers stated.

As they took the crown for their group, they will now be moving forward to the ‘Gold Platinum Phase’ as they compete for the top spot in the top eight placements.

Their next game will be held next Saturday where they will be competing against South Africa or Turkey, depending on who wins their final game.

Best of luck boys!
