Marisa Abela, a British actress of Maltese descent, took home one of the most coveted awards at this year’s BAFTA Television Awards last night. The talented actress won the Leading Actress BAFTA for her outstanding performance in HBO’s critically acclaimed series ‘Industry’, where she stars as Yasmin Kara-Hanani.

The hit drama, which dives into the high-pressure world of international finance, sees Marisa play Yasmin, a privileged but driven graduate trying to navigate the ruthless world of investment banking in London.

The ceremony also honoured Jessica Gunning, who took home the Best Supporting Actress award for her gripping role as Martha in Netflix’s much-discussed series ‘Baby Reindeer’.

Marisa’s clearly one to watch, having starred in her breakout role as Amy Winehouse in ‘Back to Black’ and graced the cover of ‘Elle’ magazine last year alone. This year, she starred in Steven Soderbergh’s ‘Black Bag’ alongside acting veterans Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender. We can’t wait to see what she does next!

Congratulations, Marisa!
