Watch out! Building collapses in Santa Venera
One person is said to be trapped under the debris

A building has collapsed in Santa Venera Road Qormi, in the vicinity of the BOV Head Quarters.

It is believed that one person remains trapped under the debris, with Civil Protection Department personnel working to quickly and safely remove them from the area. Dogs and drones are also being used for this search.

This latest building collapse is one of several edifices to have succumbed to such a fate in the past year. Janet Walker, whose family lost her house in Guardamangia in one of the collapses shared a picture of the scene to Facebook with the caption: "Stay working and striving like an idiot...this will only continue if penalties do not become harsher," Janet wrote.

Similar to other buildings collapses in the past, today's is also adjacent to a building site.

It's best to avoid the area for the time being to allow the workers to carry out their job efficiently and prevent congestion in the area. Updates will follow shortly.
