Moments ago, Malta’s Deputy PM and Health Minister Chris Fearne, along with the Opposition Speaker for Health, Stephen Spiteri, received their COVID-19 vaccination.

In a short speech after receiving the jab, Fearne noted that science will always win over disease. “Science and scientists managed to give us a vaccine against COVID within a year,” he continued.

Fearne also noted that Malta is moving along swiftly with its vaccination programme. From tomorrow, pharmacists will start receiving the vaccine and a letter for invitation for those over the age of 80 will be sent out over this week.

Fearne once again made an appeal for locals to trust in science and take the vaccine, whilst also continuing to be prudent and keep adhering to the mitigation measures. “Together with science and this vaccine, we can overcome COVID.”

Speaker Spiteri reiterated the minister’s appeal to keep adhering to mitigation measures issued by health authorities in order to keep the virus at bay.
