From the airport to wherever you need to go!

The Maltese Islands are well-known for their rich history, beautiful coastlines, and vibrant culture. Whether you are visiting to explore ancient sites, relax by the sea, or experience the local cuisine, getting around conveniently is key to making the most of your stay. The Airport Direct bus service provides a quick, comfortable, and affordable connection from the Malta International Airport to some of the island’s most popular locations, ensuring that your journey starts and ends smoothly.

The Airport Direct service includes four routes, making it straightforward to reach different parts of the island. The TD1 route connects the airport with Rabat, Buġibba, Mellieħa, and Ċirkewwa. The TD2 route runs between the airport and St Julian’s, continuing to Pembroke. The TD3 route connects the airport to St Julian’s, Sliema, Gżira and Msida. The TD4 route links the airport with Valletta and the Fast Ferry to Gozo. These direct routes help visitors avoid unnecessary stops, allowing them to reach their accommodation faster and start enjoying their trip sooner.

Designed with travellers in mind, the bus offers comfortable seating, free Wi-Fi, USB charging ports, and ample luggage space. The service operates frequently, providing a reliable and stress-free way to get to hotels, guesthouses, and holiday apartments.

For those using an Explore Unlimited Travel Card, the Airport Direct service is included at no extra cost. Alternatively, passengers can pay directly onboard using cash or a contactless card, with a fare of just €3 per trip.

For those planning to use public transport throughout their stay, the Explore Flex card is a convenient option. It can be purchased from the Malta Public Transport Sales Outlet inside the Welcomers’ Hall at Malta International Airport, Valletta Terminus, Buġibba Terminus, the Sliema Sales Office at The Ferries, and card-dispensing machines in popular tourist areas, including the airport.

After purchasing the Explore Flex card, travellers can link it to the Tallinja App, which allows them to download the app from Google Play or the Apple App Store, register an account, add the card by scanning the QR code or entering the card number, top up the card with credit, choose from available value packages that best suit their travel needs, and purchase a package using the credit on their card. Alternatively, value packages can be bought directly from Malta Public Transport sales offices when purchasing the card.

Download the Tallinja app to plan your journey: www.publictransport.com.mt/en/tallinja-smartphone-app.
