WATCH: "I'm crying throwing stuff away...but STAY INSIDE!" - B'bugia bar owner
She dished out a stern lesson to those breaking rules

Caroline Curmi

Restaurants and bars all over the world have had their businesses disrupted due to the Corona outbreak, and one local woman had no qualms about sharing the reality of her situation and telling off those who continue to breach health directives.

The owner of a bar in Birzebbugia, Rita explained that she had left her house to go switch off the fridges and throw away some items. While she is currently striving to distribute food and drink items so nothing goes to waste, Rita took to Facebook to speak her mind about the situation: "Stay inside! It's not a picnic, it's not a holiday, I'm crying throwing stuff away. It's a waste throwing stuff away, you can't not cry when you throw things away. I know there are people out there who will hate me for this, but please STAY INSIDE!" she said.

Adding that she had noticed several people strolling through the village, she said: "What are you doing jogging? Everyone in Birzebbugia is out walking about today! What do you think you're doing? Malta's small."

The bar owner's rant has gone viral since streaming live to Facebook earlier today, with her video generating over 20,000 views, 1,000 shares and 600 comments at the time of writing.

When she’s not having a quarter-life crisis, Caroline is either drawing in a café, frittering her salary on sushi or swearing at traffic in full-on Gozitan. There is also the occasional daytime drink somewhere in the equation. Or two. A creative must be allowed at least one vice.
