Eurovision may have been cancelled but as the day of the would-be final looms closer, Eurovision fever is on the rise. As part of Eurovisioncalls, an online chat-show hosted by Dutch viral YouTuber and make-up artist NikkieTutorials, this year's contestants are being individually called up by the YouTube star, and yesterday it was Destiny's turn.

Visibly excited, the 17-year singer chatted to NikkieTutorials for a full eight minutes and revealed the moment she found out this year's Eurovision was cancelled: "I was with my mum and with my friend and obviously I was like, oh my god why is this happening to me?" Destiny lamented. "I really wanted this and I really wanted to represent my country, like it was my dream you know what I mean?" she continued.

Destiny has gained much favour with Eurovision fans, especially with those who remember her success at the 2015 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, and was considered one of the favourites for the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest. In a European TV show, Destiny ranked third in a vote split between the Austrian public and a jury made up of ex-Eurovision representatives and winners.

Such is the furore generated by fans, that one commentor on the video said: "If you won't send this girl again in 2021, you will make the biggest mistake in Maltese Eurovision history." Although it is not yet clear who will represent Malta in the next Eurovision Song Contest, we hope Destiny will get to live her dream!

When she’s not having a quarter-life crisis, Caroline is either drawing in a café, frittering her salary on sushi or swearing at traffic in full-on Gozitan. There is also the occasional daytime drink somewhere in the equation. Or two. A creative must be allowed at least one vice.
