Local model Jancer Galea is the cutest ever! The eight-year-old will be participating in the International Model category at this year’s Little Miss & Little Mister United World. Ahead of the competition, a video of Jancer was shared online, in which she presents her native language of Maltese, wearing an incredible Malta-inspired outfit.

“The Maltese language is one of the oldest current languages in the world, about 800 years old, and is the National language of Malta,” she says in her video, as she walks along backstreets in traditional costume.

Having been derived from African, Arabic and Italian roots, you could say that the language is quite diverse. Our language, she says, was “developed in Sicily and Italy and later introduced to Malta.” She also touches upon the Maltese dialect, representing our various islands of Malta, Gozo and Comino.

“These days, Malta is largely an English-speaking nation,” she says, being that English is also a national language of ours, making us bilingual. “In Malta, we are proud of our national language and I am proud to be Maltese!” she concludes.
