Feels like 42°C! Temperatures continue to climb across Malta & Gozo as peak summer heat approaches
Malta’s turning up the heat!

Francesca Vella

The heat is hard to escape at the moment – it’s in the air and the number one topic on the lips of many, as July trudges forward into the peak of the summer heat. Next week, according to the Maltese Islands Weather, will see the temperatures climb a little further, hitting a peak on Tuesday 8th July at 37°C, which is expected to feel like a toasty 42°C due to the humidity.

So if you plan on being out and about next week, make sure to take all the necessary precautions – carry water with you at all times, wear a hat and sunglasses, and avoid direct exposure to the sun between 11 AM and 4 PM – yes, even while swimming!

If the news of this intense heat is making you nervous, there is some hope – Wednesday 9th July is forecast to see an increase in winds, reaching a force 5 northwesterly wind by the evening, which is expected to bring a slight drop in temperatures, leading to a comparatively ‘fresh’ 31°C on Friday and a cool minimum of 22°C at night. So if you’re planning a BBQ, that might be the perfect night to have one!

Whether you love this weather or are counting down the days to October, remember to stay safe and hydrated at all times.

Are you enjoying the summer heat?

4th July 2025
