A group of brilliant young minds from St Martin’s University has made Malta proud on the European stage! Competing under the team name MediMynd, the students secured third place out of 40 countries at the JA Europe Company of the Year competition, recently held in Athens, Greece.

After winning the local edition of Junior Achievement (JA) Malta, the MediMynd team travelled to Athens to present their innovative idea: a smart, automated pill dispenser designed to help elderly individuals manage their medications more safely and independently.

The device includes voice reminders and real-time connectivity with caregivers, reducing confusion, missed doses, and unnecessary hospital visits – a game-changer, particularly in elderly care.

The team is made up of Elenya Spiteri, Xandru Calleja, Jacob Mallia Azzopardi, Jacques Vincenti Bonnici Kind, and Michael Borg, who have shown just what’s possible when innovation meets purpose.

MediMynd is already looking ahead, with plans to expand their project across Europe and bring their product into more homes where it's needed most.

Well done to the entire team!
