“We’re doing all we can for them.”

Yesterday, news broke that a litter of puppies (five females and four males) were abandoned, according to a social media post by the Association for Abandoned Animals (AAA). We were so touched by the story that we spoke to the AAA this morning for an update on the little pooches.

“We got them started on soft food and milk once they came into our care,” Rosalind Agius from the AAA tells us about the four-week-old puppies. “We’re suspecting that they were separated from their mother straight away and abandoned.” Poor babies!

“Their health is ok at the moment, but again, they are supposed to be with their mother at such an early stage. We are doing all we can for them. Hopefully they’ll live,” Rosalind shares.

“We’ve had a very good response from locals and the whole situation has caused quite the uproar,” she says, noting that abandonment is disgraceful. “Many people have donated or brought puppy food, which we very much appreciate, and we’ve received a number of calls from people wanting to adopt. Right now, we aren’t taking reservations as they are still very young. But hopefully in around four weeks they will be ready for adoption.”
