The festival will go on for 12 days.
After two digital editions, the Three Palaces Early Opera and Music Festival is returning in a bigger and better format between 1st and 12th November 2022.
This year’s exciting programme was curated by an artistic team made up of Michelle Castelletti and Kenneth Zammit Tabona. Such a collaboration is set to strengthen the Baroque element within the festival.
The twelve-day festival will also be offering visitors access to many beautiful and historic buildings around the island that would have otherwise flown under the public’s radar.
In light of this, the festival will be operating under the premise that ‘our ordinary is actually extraordinary’.
This stems from the fact that many Maltese citizens pass by spectacular buildings on a daily basis without noticing the grandeur that lies within.
“At last, we’re going to be returning to our glorious palaces. Be it through the beauty of the Gran Salon, in the extraordinary building of the Auberge de Provence, or through the spectacular St John’s Co-Cathedral. Thanks to the talents of the Queen of the Lieder, Dame Sarah Connolly, and the ORA Singers Choir, this year’s festival will be exceptional,” Michelle Castelletti said.
“As part of the Early Baroque Opera’s musical programme, the two genres of Opera and Baroque will be coming together in two spectacular works by Georg Frederick Handel – Partenope HWV27 and Belshazzar HWV61,” Kenneth Zammit Tabona added.
