Bajtar steal the show! Xagħra becomes home to the local fig festival this June
Don't miss the sweet celebration!

Lyndsey Grima

‘Tistennix il-bajtra taqa’ f’ħalqek’ (Don’t wait for the fig to fall into your mouth) is a Maltese saying which encourages the listener to act quickly and decisively. This is precisely what we encourage when considering the Fig Festival happening in Xagħra, Gozo on the 27th of June between 7pm to 11pm!

During the festival, the public will be able to enjoy a variety of food and products made from figs, local craft exhibitions, entertainment for the whole family, live music including Kantera, children's activities, and a unique atmosphere in the heart of the village of Xagħra.

The festival continues to serve as an important platform for promoting agriculture, local produce, and Gozitan traditions, while offering an authentic cultural and gastronomic experience for both residents and visitors.

So mark the date down on your calendar and make your way to the hilltop village of Xagħra for a night of fruit and fun - tistennix il-bajtra taqa’ f’ħalqek!

What’s your favourite fig-filled dish?
