This Mellieha bench dedicated to a lost loved one really tugs at the heartstrings
It’s beautiful in more ways than one.

Just this morning, a local posted to public Facebook group MALTA about a granite bench that sits atop a hill in Mellieha. The beautiful structure can be found along the walkway that leads to the historic watchtower site of Saint Agatha’s Tower, or as everyone knows it here, It-Torri L-Ahmar (The Red Tower).

Ray Zammit snapped a gorgeous shot of the granite bench which bears an inscription dedicated to lost loved ones. “Please enjoy the view, peace and tranquillity,” the inscription reads. “Cherish loved ones and those closest to you. Enjoy life.” The bench is dedicated to Anita Gray, who passed away in August 2018. “Once you read the inscription you will realise how much the person was truly loved and being missed,” Ray notes.

It seems that the person who commissioned this bench is Anita’s husband as the inscription also reads, “Anita, my dear wife and the love of my life, Brian.” There is also another message carved into the stone, reading, “My mum, best friend and the sunshine of my life, Lesley.”

And it's not the only one. Another bench is also found in the area, made out of what looks like marble, with a similar inscription. “Love, Live and Let Live. Allow us to extend the effect of this beautiful setting onto you, through such inspirational moments, for a life filled with even more smiles and happiness in your homes,” it reads. This too, is dedicated to a lost loved one.

We hope that these people have found solace after their loss and thank them for creating such a beautiful commemoration in a breathtaking spot.
