This local charity organisation is gearing up for its Christmas collection & needs your help!
Local charity organisation, Smiling with Jerome, is gearing for their annual surprise Christmas gifts donation that will put smiles on children’s faces during the holiday season. We spoke to Josette Frendo, founder of the Smiling with Jerome, about this initiative.
“These donations are for the special kids of our True Heroes Group,” she explains. “The group has nearly 500 members and the majority are parents whose kids are severely disabled or battle different conditions.” The Christmas gifts collection will be going towards these kids going through a rough time.
“We organise lots of activities throughout the year, all free of charge, for all these families. After the end of summer, I approach their mothers and ask what their child would like this Christmas. Many of these kids are non-verbal or wheelchair bound and so their wishes are quite varied,” she explains.
“Many of these families have lots of expenses to deal with due to their kid's therapies so we help them in any way that we can.”
They need your help!
The organisation is looking for the following gifts that anyone is willing to donate to these kids:
1. Nintendo Switch
2. Headphones and mouse for a laptop
3. Small tablet or a car with lights and sound for a seven-year-old boy
4. An educational toy with sensory/ hand-eye coordination for a seven-year-old girl
5. Sensory lights for a kid’s room (message Josette for more information)
6. A blue MicroScooter 3-in-1 (costing around €120 euros)
7. A Lol Doll (message Josette above for more information)
8. One4All gift voucher for two different kids
9. Another tablet
10. A Smart Trike (costing around €150)
11. A bike for an 11-year-old girl
12. A V-Tech Alphabet Apple for a three-year-old boy
13. A Minnie Mouse toy
14. A doll’s house
15. A microphone with a stand, or a barbie doll, or a Playmobil toy for a six-year-old girl
“Your contribution would be greatly appreciated by these kids and their families. If the parents agree, you could have the chance to give the present yourself to the child,” she says.
