Matthew Mercieca, better known as Muxu in the local music scene, has confirmed that he has tested positive for COVID-19. While thanking those who have messaged him, he is also bringing to light the stigma that comes with having the virus.

“So as most of you heart or suspected it is true, I do have Corona and am currently self-isolated where I have been for quite a while,” Muxu shares on Instagram stories. “Thank god my symptoms have been very mild and I am one of the lucky ones.”

“Please be kinder and more compassionate with people who do have corona,” he appeals in his post. “Nobody willingly gets it and the stigma I have felt because of having it is something I’ve never felt before. If someone you know and love has it just check in on them by sending them a message vs being a constant reminder that there is something currently wrong with them.”

“Mentally it has been hard but thank god I’ve been raised to keep good energies in challenging moments,” he admits. “To all those who sent me love thank you so much… honestly take care of yourselves people.”
