Recently, a wave of nostalgia surfaced on the Facebook group 'Iż-Żurrieq u l-madwar Zurrieq and its surroundings', treating its members with throwback photos of Ghar Lapsi.

These images, a blast from the past, showcase the scenic beauty and timeless charm of this coastal gem, evoking fond memories for many.

Ghar Lapsi, with its rugged cliffs and crystalline waters, has long been a beloved destination for locals and tourists alike. These photos capture moments of leisure and joy against the backdrop of breathtaking natural scenery, reminding viewers of the idyllic days spent by the sea.

Coinciding with this wave of nostalgia, yesterday marked the Feast of the Ascension, a significant day for many in the surrounding villages.

Traditionally, this feast day held special significance as it signified the beginning of summer. Villagers would flock to Ghar Lapsi, eager to take their first dip in the sea, marking the start of the swimming season and celebrating the warmth and beauty of the Mediterranean.

Have you started swimming yet this year?
