It seemed as though all the angels and saints turned up for the final show of this year’s Fashion week last night… and they found themselves on the runway!

Multi-award winning Maltese fashion designer Ritienne Zammit’s VIVA collection was one of the most hotly anticipated shows of the year, and boy did she follow through.

Featuring a distinct religious motif, the models stalked down the runway in Ritienne’s signature prints showcasing religious figures and iconography, some decked out in gilt crowns and jewellery that would even make Birkirkara’s fancy Santa Liena feel underdressed.

In an unusual twist, some of the models also donned ‘wounds’ denoting the fates of the saints, with one even sporting arrow wounds across her chest! In a country with such a strong religious background, we just love how Ritienne isn’t afraid to push the envelope.

But the models weren’t the only ones walking down the runway! The collection also featured a large dog walking alongside one of the models, and prominent local model Stephanie Hodgkins also took to the runway holding her adorable baby daughter, who looked every part the little angel.

What did you think of the fantastic VIVA collection?
