Poor Milo! Maltese doggo out on the streets yet again has local activist appealing for a home
We reached out to Maria D’Amato who told us all about the situation.

We’ve heard many stories about poor pooches being left out on the street and having difficult lives, but this one probably takes the cake – and not in a good way. Meet Milo, the most adorable two-year-old boxer mix ever, who has had quite the rollercoaster life so far.

Milo’s story

Milo has been rehomed several times, unfortunately not having found a suitable forever home yet. We spoke to Maria D’Amato from Innocent Paws who told us about his situation. “Two months ago, Milo was rehomed by a couple who didn’t do their homework very well! They adopted Milo and found out that they are allergic. They were desperately trying to rehome him, and one person was interested in him. This person’s neighbour went to pick him up.” But unfortunately, it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows.

“This person didn’t keep his word and didn’t want him after all, so the person who picked him up called the previous owners, but they didn’t want him back, claiming they’re not responsible for him.” Breaks our animal-loving hearts. “This poor dog has been rejected by everyone and has been rehomed irresponsibly by everyone,” Maria notes, saying that Milo is so playful around anyone and other animals. Unfortunately, because of all this, Milo ended up on the streets and was involved in an accident. He has suffered puncture wounds in his head and legs and is currently being treated at hospital.

Adopting a dog

Maria notes that this happens a lot and it is “why so many dogs for adoption are suffering. Rehoming a dog involves a lot of experience and responsibility to choose the right family.” Maria says that the family also needs to think long and hard about adopting a dog and take into consideration things like expenses, their home environment, allergies, the time they have, among other things.

“This has happened to a lot of dogs, but some might find a good home after a second attempt (if rehoming is being done carefully), while there are other cases like Milo that are being homed and rehomed by unexperienced and irresponsible people.”

If you’re thinking of adopting a dog, do so after considerable thought. The pooches will definitely love their new home, but time to adjust is essential.
