The University of Malta Racing team’s first-ever electric race car, christened EV24, will be put to the test this weekend at ‘Formula Student’, held at the popular Silverstone circuit in the UK, known as the track on which the Formula 1 British Grand Prix takes place.

Formula Student is an annual student engineering competition in which student teams from around the world design, build, test, and race a small-scale formula style racing car.

The race car EV24 was completed in May this year, with a weight of 235kg and a power of 80kW. The car can reach a velocity of 100km/hr from rest within 4 seconds!

The University of Malta Racing team participated in Formula Student UK (FSUK) back in 2022, achieving third place overall in the competition, among other top rankings such as third overall in dynamic events and first in endurance. This made the Malta team the best performing non-UK team at the competition!

We wish the UoM Racing team the best of luck for this weekend!
