Malta’s health authorities have just announced that unvaccinated travellers coming to Malta will no longer need to present a negative PCR or rapid test upon arrival.

This rule is set to come into effect on 25th July 2022.

Earlier today, Malta’s Health Minister also revealed that elderly people on the islands can soon start receiving their second COVID-19 booster dose.

This is in accordance with recommendations made by the ECDC and EMA, which urged countries to “consider people between 60 and 79 as well as vulnerable persons of any age for a second booster.”

Malta is currently experiencing a considerable spike in active COVID-19 cases, with 355 individuals testing positive for the virus in the past 24 hours.

This means that there are currently 7,764 active cases on the Maltese islands.
