Over 1,300 healthcare workers taking part in industrial action from this morning, says UHM
They released a statement on the matter.
The UHM Voice of the Workers has shared that over 1,300 healthcare professionals are taking part in the latest industrial action as “the government is not addressing issues that have been pending for various years while not keeping to its word regarding agreements taken in the past months.”
The statement and live press conference shared that the healthcare workers forming part of Allied Health Professionals, Emergency Ambulance Responders and Steward Health Care are part of the industrial action.
Despite the strike, the union said that the above professionals will only be performing duties related to Covid-19, emergencies and cancer patients. The strike came into effect as of 8am this morning. The UHM hopes that it won’t need to escalate the industrial action “in order for the 1,300 employees to get what is theirs by right.”
