It’s not every day that our little island gets mentioned on US television, but that’s what happened on a recent episode of Let’s Make A Deal, thanks to Maltese contestant Jenise Spiteri.

As soon as Jenise, a snowboarder and vlogger who narrowly missed out on her chance to compete at the 2018 Olympics, tells comedian Wayne Brady that she’s Maltese, all hell breaks loose.

The host looks confused about Malta in general, asking Jenise a series of questions about her heritage, before launching into a hilarious (and totally made up) rendition of the ‘Maltese’ national anthem. Spoiler: It’s basically one sentence, “Oh Malta, teeny tiny land.” Poor Dun Karm will be rolling in his grave!

As the show progresses, the host dons a ‘Malta’ sash, crowning himself King of Malta, and one of the prizes is revealed to be a trip to Malta (because obviously), and our girl Jenise is elated!
