Missed the peak festa season? You’re still in time to check out these feasts this weekend!
Festa season is generally considered closed after The Feast of the Lady of Assumption, held on 8th September. What with the start of the scholastic year looming and the turn in weather which haunts every annual celebration, it is easy to consider it so.
But if you’re new to Malta or are an unseasoned festa goer, there’s still a chance left for you to experience the colourful whirlwind of noisy celebration this month. Free up your schedule: it’s time for a final round of festa fever this weekend!
1. Our Lady of Graces, Zabbar – 15th September
Zabbar may be better known as the village with the colourful umbrella-filled street, but one thing that’s better than a stunning Instagram snap is their village festa. Loaded with all the standard festa celebrations, it is the perfect chance to get a final glimpse of what summers in Malta are really all about. Want to fit in with the crowd? Then wear green or blue, depending on the band club of your choice!
2. St. Augustine, Santu Wistin Parish, Valletta – 22nd September
Feasts in the capital may be more subdued in terms of commotion, however the intimate and traditional setting adds another dimension to the festa experience. Albeit more contained, having the capital as a backdrop provides a historical setting which generates an overall mystical evening.
