Maltese film ‘The Black Pebble’ wins big at the Art is Alive Film Festival in the USA
A local short film produced in Malta by the name of ‘The Black Pebble’ has won not only one but two awards as the prestigious Art is Alive Film Festival in the United States.
The film took home the ‘Best Short Film- Experimental/Avant Garde’ award together with Best Male Lead Actor award for Stephen Oliver.
‘The Black Pebble’ was also nominated in two other categories including Best Director and Best Cinematography.
This is not the first time the film has won awards as it had also won the Award of Merit at the Best Shorts Festival, USA and an Honorable Mention at the Global Shorts Festival, USA.
The film, directed and written by Chris Zarb, centres around a senior citizen named Vincent living in elderly home as he learns a lesson in self forgiveness on Christmas Eve.
It stars, Stephen Oliver in the leading role alongside Sue Scantlebury, Henry Zammit Cordina, Narcy Calamatta, Becky Camilleri, Rina Camilleri, Kevin Muscat and Tony Parnis.
